Eating beside the pool
Restaurant sitting along the swimming pool, with both covered and open sitting. Guests and rate wherever they want to. There is no such table booking process.
What makes it different from a hotel restaurant anywhere else is the silence. The environment of poolside dinning at Westwnd Hotel Matheran is very peaceful as there are no vehicles in Metharan. In the night time you can listen to only water and insects sound properly.
The kitchen is for everywhere you eat.

When to sit where
Not told at the time of check-in;
Morning is the best time to sit and eat outside. In Metharan mornings are usually cool from December to February. Have open sitting and have chai.
Covered sitting is preferred by visitors during summer months. During winter people sit in either place.
People prefer to sit beside the pool throughout the year in the evening.
Visitors have fun at campfires in cool weather. If your group wants one, tell the front desk during the day rather than after dinner.
Most requested
A table away from the other tables
You can book a personal table for candle lights; most requested for honeymoon, anniversaries, birthday parties etc with beautiful flower decoration.
We need at least one day early notice. Everything needs to be prepared by hand from our workers in kitchen and other helpers.
Weather note. Matheran takes very heavy rain from June to September. Open-air seating, poolside dinners and campfires do not run on those evenings and everything moves under cover. The food is unchanged; the setting is not. Worth knowing if you are booking a monsoon trip specifically for a dinner by the pool.
Or eat in the room
Room service available throughout the day. People gets tired while walking or riding up the hill from dasturi naka. So, people usually eat in room service.
From the second morning, most guests are at the restaurant.

About the restaurant
Both. There is covered seating and open seating beside the pool, and which one runs on a given evening depends on the weather. Through the monsoon, dining moves under cover.
Yes, and it is our most requested arrangement. A separate table is set beside the pool away from the main seating. Tell us at least a day in advance so the team can set it up properly — it is not something we can produce at nine in the evening.
Yes, though the pool is right there, so children should not be left unsupervised at the table. Highchairs and plain food for young children can be arranged if you mention it in advance.
Yes. Room service runs through the day from the same kitchen. Many guests order dinner to the room on the first night after the walk up from Dasturi Naka, and use the restaurant from the next morning.
Matheran takes very heavy rain between June and September. Open-air seating and campfire dinners do not run on those evenings, and we move everything under cover. The food does not change — the setting does.
