Kitchen supplies reach Metharan on a horse or a hand cart. Things that kitchen serves changes with the season. Westend Hotel Matheran menu changes every week so, instead of publishing a list, we prefer sending you the menu of the week.

Tell the kitchen before you arrive, not at the table
As Matheran does not allow motor so, nothing can be brought up on a short notice. A day before notice for dietary requirement would be better than telling while sitting on the table.
Where and how you eat
Food can be served along the poolside (in open or covered sitting) or through the room service from the same kitchen. Depends on weather or how much you have walked that day.
For large families or corporate groups, a fixed menu is better than ordering individual dishes.
Inclusion of meal depends on the plan you book. The usual choice of Metharan is meal-inclusion plan because there is not much to eat up the hill.

About the menu
Yes, both. Several hotels in Matheran are vegetarian only, so it is worth checking before you book anywhere on the hill. Our kitchen runs vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes across Indian, Chinese and Maharashtrian preparations.
Jain and no-onion-no-garlic preparations are made on request rather than kept on the standing menu. Tell us when you book — Matheran is car-free and everything the kitchen uses is carried up the hill, so ingredients are planned in advance rather than bought the same day.
Yes. Message us on WhatsApp and we will send across what the kitchen is running for your dates, including any seasonal changes. It also lets you flag a dietary requirement while there is still time to plan for it.
Some of it does. Supplies reach Matheran by horse and hand-cart from Dasturi Naka, and the monsoon affects what comes up the hill and how reliably. The core menu stays the same; a few items move with the season.
That depends on the meal plan you book. Most rates here are quoted meal-inclusive because eating options up the hill are limited. The plans are explained in full on our tariff page.
