Other websites use our name, our logo and our photographs to take bookings that never reach us. Two minutes of checking protects your money.
What is happening
Websites have been set up that copy this site closely — the same hotel name, the same logo, the same photographs of our rooms and pool. They look convincing because they are meant to. Some appear high in search results, including as paid advertisements, which people reasonably read as a sign of legitimacy.
Guests contact those sites, are quoted a rate, pay an advance, and arrive at Matheran to find that we have no record of the booking. We cannot refund money that never reached us, and by then the trip is already ruined.
This page exists so that does not happen to you. It does not accuse any particular website — it simply tells you exactly what our real details are, so you can compare for yourself before you pay anything.

If a website, phone number or account does not appear below, it is not us. There are no exceptions, no branch offices, and no authorised booking agents operating under our name.

Check this before you pay anything
Read the web address, not the page
Look at the address bar at the top of your browser. It must read westendmatheran.com exactly. Copycat domains rely on small differences — an extra word, a doubled letter, a different ending. The page design tells you nothing; anyone can copy a design in an afternoon.
Compare the phone number
Our only numbers are +91 87693 29321 and +91 87693 29321. If a site listing our hotel shows a different number, that site is not us, however convincing it looks.
Call us and read out your booking
This is the step that actually settles it. Before transferring any money, call +91 87693 29321 and ask us to confirm the booking, the rate and the dates. If we have no record of it, stop and do not pay.
Be careful where the money goes
Be cautious about paying into a personal account or a UPI ID belonging to an individual rather than the hotel. If anything about the payment request feels off, pause and call us first. A genuine booking will still be there in ten minutes.

You have paid a site that may not be ours
Do this now, in this order. Whether money can be recovered depends almost entirely on how quickly it is reported — funds can sometimes be frozen before they move on, but that window is short.
- Call 1930 India's national cyber crime helpline, run by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre under the Ministry of Home Affairs. It operates 24 hours and is set up specifically for online financial fraud. Call it before anything else.
- Tell your bank Report the transaction to your bank or payment provider immediately and ask them to attempt to freeze or reverse it.
- File at cybercrime.gov.in Submit a formal complaint on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal with the transaction details, the website address and any messages you exchanged.
- Send us what you have Message us on WhatsApp with the website address, the number you dealt with and any payment details. We cannot refund money that never reached us, but the information helps us get the site reported and taken down.
Keep everything. Screenshots, the website address, the phone number, the UPI ID or account details, and the full chat or email history. All of it is needed for the complaint, and it is easy to lose once you close the tab.

Paid advertisements can appear above ordinary search results, and anyone can bid on a hotel name. A high position in search does not prove a site is official. Look at the web address itself, not at where the result sits on the page.
