The last stretch has no cars
Matheran is Asia's only car-free hill station. Vehicles stop at Dasturi Naka and you cover the last part on foot, by horse or by hand-pulled rickshaw. Plan an extra half hour for it.

Matheran allows no motor vehicles, so all cars stop at Dasturi Naka. From there you can walk, take a horse, or take a hand-pulled rickshaw to the hotel. Tell us when you expect to reach Dasturi Naka and our porters can meet you there for the luggage.
Yes, the front desk is staffed 24 hours. A late arrival is not a problem as long as you let us know in advance so we can keep a porter available.
