Then thirty points are marked on the map and some places are enjoyed by the Matheran toy train. Four of them are the reason people come. Here is which.
Why this list is ranked
Every western hotel in Matheran guide lists the thirty-odd points in the same order, which is useful to nobody. In practice, you have one day to walk everything, and the points are spread right across the plateau. So the real question is not what exists but what is worth your legs.
We are a hotel. Our guests come back from the Matheran Hill Station toy train and tell us and this is the honest version of what they say.

The points, sorted by whether to bother
Charlotte Lake
Charlotte Lake is the closest spot to us and the easiest walk in the hotel lake view in Matheran. It is a man‑made lake surrounded by forest best to visit during and just after the monsoon when it overflows. Swimming is not allowed because the lake supplies the town with water.
Echo Point
Echo Point is exactly as the name suggests and it works well. It is best to visit before the crowd arrives and everyone starts shouting at once. The valley view from Echo Point is one of the views.
Louisa Point
Louisa Point probably offers the view in the western hotel in Matheran India looking across to the Prabal Fort ridge. There are two viewing spots at Louisa Point in the hill view Matheran. The far one is quieter. Sunset at Louisa Point is the evening plan for most visitors.
Panorama Point
Panorama Point in Matheran is the furthest of the points and is worth getting up early for. It gives a 360‑degree view and is the accepted sunrise spot. Take a horse if you do not fancy walking in the dark Hotel hill station.
One Tree Hill
One Tree Hill is a hilltop with, as advertised, one tree. The walk out through the forest is the part rather than the destination itself. One Tree Hill connects to the Shivaji Ladder Trail.
Alexander Point
Alexander Point is close to the hill station resort. Often skipped because it sits between the more famous ones. It is worth folding into a Charlotte Lake walk rather than making a separate trip for it.
Little Chowk Point
A long walk out along the plateau edge with good views on the way. Quieter than the headline points, which is the reason to go.
Porcupine / Sunset Point
Porcupine or Sunset Point is another sunset option if Louisa is packed. It has people and the walk back afterwards is in the dark so carry a torch.
Pisarnath Temple
Pisarnath Temple is a small temple near Charlotte Lake . It is a reasonable stop on the same walk rather than a destination by itself.
Rambaug Point
Rambaug Point is pleasant enough and the hotel point view Matheran is best. The view is not meaningfully different from points you will already have seen. Go if you have a morning.
King George / Lords Point
King George or Lords Point is easy to reach and easy to skip. It is fine if you are passing. It is not worth a dedicated walk.
Honeymoon Point
Honeymoon Point is a name that does more work than the view does. It is near Louisa Point so most people see it on the way anyway.
Distances are approximate and measured from Westend Hotel on R.C. Church Road. Walking times vary a lot with the weather and the path.
If you only have one day
The plan that works
Panorama Point for sunrise. You can get up early it is the nearest point and the only one that gives you the closest view of the circle. Take a horse in the early morning and give back in the late Morning.
Echo point is the best place to visit in the morning in the hotel in Matheran before the crowd arrives many people shouting together and they hear their sound back and the echo became forty people shouting at once.Alexander Point is located on the same path.
Back to the hotel properly. This is appropriate time to be off the path,it is warmer, a disappointing time and the point is busy. So enjoy and spend time in the pool and save your legs.
Lousia point in sunset. This is best time to visit in Lousia point in the hill station of Matheran and everyone knows about it, to getA spotway.Porcupine Point is the dropout alternative.
Charlotte Lake is the best place to visit in the evening, if there is light left or leave on it the next morning. It is five minutes away from our side of time.
Practical things nobody mentions
Everything is walked
There are no vehicles in Matharen hill station at all, so the distance covered by a horse , on foot and hand pulled rickshaw in both directions. This is not a short time, point four kilometers away in an eight kilometer round trip.
Where you stay changes the day
On a car free hill your Westerned Hotel in Matheran is not detailed. From R.C. Church Road Charlotte Lake in Matheran is located about 500m and Echo Point is located under a kilometer which means you can walk down without being a plan.
The paths are red laterite
Not the road surface. The roads are disappointing, slippery roads, dust in the air. Road dust gets into light dresses and shoes permanently. Wear something good you can walk several kilometers and do not mind ruining.
Monkeys
The popular points in hill station resorts commonly used by people, they will take food commonly open hand. Not dangerous but monkeys are there. They bring their goods so keep these things in bags rather than monkeys taking this..
Start early, always
This is the best time because of good temperature and light management. Paths are empty and so silent. By eleven the popular points are busy and crowds are everywhere. The temperature is generally warm.

About the viewpoints
About more than thirty points are located in the hill station of Matheran, but they are not equal. Four of them-Lousia, Panorama, Echo and Charlotte lake account for the most beautiful views of the matheran people remember.
If you have one full day Charlotte lake in matheran,Echo point, panorama point and Louisa point is best at sunrise the next morning if you manage it. The four points are the best hill view matheran. Everything else is fixed rather than planned.
Not properly. The hotel point view in matheran is spread across the plateau and there are no vehicles so covering all distances by walking so covering all of them means rusting them. Two nights needed to view all the main points at a reasonable place.
Not needed because the paths are clear and signposted and there is walking the whole day. If you want the quieter forest route between points rather than the main track everyone takes.
Most people take a horse to the nearer point of the hill station in Matheran and a horse for Panorama which is the furthest.Horse are standard transport in matheran not a means of transport ride.and they are the sensible option early if anyone in the groups tried easily.
The hotel viewpoints in matheran are themselves open. There are charges associated with entering in the matheran and parking charges at Dasturi point and these are charged from time to time, so treat anything you revive in advance.
